Today was dominated by a monotonous task as part of my current research project. I have begun compiling a list of all VR Narrative that fit my research criteria from the Oculus store and Viveport. I have completed the Oculus store and begun on Viveport, I have also done some follow up in the preparation of materials for the classes I will be teaching this semester.
I actually enjoy teaching, I get to introduce new people to virtual production and impart the knowledge I have gained from hundreds of hours of reading research papers, research and development, and discussions with other professionals.
I wanted my PhD because I wanted to spend my time in R&D and make a contribution to the development of virtual storytelling, but it might be a stepping stone into teaching VR storytelling to the next generation. Maybe helping people begin their legacy of being master storytellers is enough of a mark on the world in its own right, maybe I can be happy and content with that.
I had lunch with an old friend today that I haven't seen in a while... I feel like an adult, a boring adult who only see's his friends when he makes an effort to schedule meeting them. Part of me wants to rebel and sail away. That part is a coward.
Once I get Multiplayer working I will also have to get IK and possession working so that performers can puppet characters.
